With a Memorandum of Understanding stipulated between Ferretti, the Emilia Romagna Regional Council, the University of Bologna, the Cassa dei Risparmi Foundation, the Chamber of Commerce and the Municipality of Forlì, the new master’s degree course in Nautical Engineering will kick off in Forlì as of the 2024-25 academic year.
“It will be from this new degree course,” commented Ferretti Group CEO Alberto Galassi, “that the next generation of qualified inspiration and skills will spring, a future we greatly look forward to. The benefits of transmitting knowledge and sharing experience through a university degree project are twofold, offering the dual function of creating employment and breathing new life into our sector with professionals equipped with a higher level of preparation, suited to the challenges of tomorrow’s yachting industry“.
The new degree course is eagerly awaited due to a particularly ripe moment in history for the local territories of Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Abruzzo, and Puglia, which are experiencing a significant period of growth, both from an industrial standpoint and in terms of employment across the yachting sector. As Alberto Galassi stressed: “In Emilia-Romagna and along the Adriatic coast, there are a series of key yards that contribute a great deal to the global leadership of the Italian yachting industry, specifically in the segment dedicated to yachts up to 60 metres in length“.
This new initiative carried out by the Ferretti Group, which has five production sites on the Adriatic, is the first step towards the establishment of a centre of excellence in Forlì, which, as Prof. Giovanni Molari, Rector of the Alma Mater, stated: “This initiative will allow access to the numerous workshop opportunities and to the great potential the aerospace and mechanical training chain can offer, thanks in part to the presence of a particularly important international research infrastructure on the Forlì Campus, the CICLoPE centre in Predappio“.
