Miami, 17th February 2023 – As part of its strategy for international promotion, the Italian Marine Industry Association is taking part in the Miami Boat Show, one of the world’s most important events devoted to the yachting sector and where Italian companies can once again confirm their role as global industry leaders and overseas ambassadors for the Made in Italy brand.

Until 19th February, the Italian Association will be present in Miami alongside a delegation of businesses and a Lounge dedicated to the 63rd Genoa International Boat Show, organised in partnership with the Italian Trade Agency.

“The Miami Boat Show is always a key event for the industry as a whole,” commented Italian Marine Industry Association President Saverio Cecchi. “the Association, thanks to its great number of international exhibitors, will continue to be present at the most important events worldwide and continue its global strategy to consolidate the Made in Italy brand and promote the Genoa International Boat Show”.

Several events are scheduled for the occasion: on 15th February, as part of the Boat Show’s opening day, the Consul General of Italy in Miami, Cristiano Musillo, made an official visit to the Show and was welcomed by Roberto Perocchio, Councillor and President of the Italian Marine Industry Association’s Nautical Tourism, Marinas and Dedicated Services sector.

On Thursday 16th February, a buyers meeting was organised at the Italian Trade Agency Lounge, attended by Vice President of the Italian Marine Industry Association Piero Formenti and dedicated to the Genoa International Boat Show, which recently opened its applications for the 63rd edition, scheduled to take place from 21st to 26th September.

Piero Formenti, President of Zar Formenti, a company specialised in the production of inflatable units, took the opportunity to confirm the positive results of events in Autumn: “The overseas market is proving to be enthusiastic and responsive to the Made in Italy brand. As has already been demonstrated at the previous US Boat Show that took place in October, the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, we can confirm very positive signs“.

The yachting industry is one of the sectors in which Italy is a world leader. The industry presents a significantly strong export propensity, with an export rate of 88% of national production when it comes to yachting units. The Italian yachting sector sees the US market as the number one export destination for Italian shipyards, a market worth 573 million dollars, accounting for 16.4% of exports, which in March 2022 reached an all-time high of €3.37 billion.

The Italian yachting industry is the global leader in superyacht production (with 523 yachts under construction out of a total of 1024, this is over 50% of all global orders) and market leader when it comes to the maxi RIB, components and equipment segments.
