THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT PRESENTED IN ROME BY RINA SERVICES FOLLOWS THAT RECEIVED IN SEPTEMBER IN GENOA FOR THE EVENT’S SUSTAINABLE DESIGN.
FROM 18th – 23rd SEPTEMBER 2025, THE 65th GENOA BOAT SHOW WILL TAKE PLACE IN ITS NEW TAILOR RENOVATED VENUE
The Italian Marine Industry Association’s Members Assembly, held on 12th December this year in Rome, also saw among its events the official ceremony in which certifying body RINA awarded I Saloni Nautici the ISO 20121 certification for the sustainable management of the 64th edition of the Genoa International Boat Show. The path leading to obtaining the certification first began in 2020 and received its first acknowledgement when I Saloni Nautici, the Italian Marine Industry Association’s operational subsidiary tasked with organising the Genoa Boat Show, was awarded the same certification but relating to the event’s design phase, handed over during the event itself this year, on 20th September.
Giorgio Gallo,Yachting Sector Senior Business Development Manager at RINA: “Running an event in a sustainable manner means promoting tangible action in the field of sustainability, an important opportunity for any organisation committed to developing such impactful initiatives. The concept of sustainability is by no means a static one, constantly evolving over time. Within this context, sustainable strategies must touch on environmental, social and economic dimensions, creating value for all stakeholders involved, whether they be visitors, exhibitors, suppliers, partners, even the local community”.
For an event to be certified by RINA as sustainably managed, it must be designed, planned and implemented in such a way as to minimise negative impacts within the three dimensions as described by RINA’s Giorgio Gallo above, while, at the same time, laying the groundwork for lasting positive change for the benefit of the community. This refers, for example, to the creation of compensation mechanisms and/or continuous improvement paths that persist beyond the single edition and influence the design phases of future events.
Andrea Razeto, President of I Saloni Nautici: “The fact we have achieved this certificate is an important recognition of our commitment, proving that the Italian yachting industry and its Genoa Boat Show are willing to invest in a sustainable future. This acknowledgement can only strengthen our determination when organising the 65th edition of the Genoa International Boat Show, taking place from 18th to 23rd September. The 2025 edition, with the completion of the Levante Waterfront project, will see the Genoa Boat Show shine brighter than ever, thanks to a new world-class venue, specifically designed to meet the needs of the international yachting industry”.
Marina Stella, General Manager of the Italian Marine Industry Association: “The ISO 20121 certification awarded to the Genoa International Boat Show represents the crowning achievement of a path focused on a tangible effort towards sustainability that first started in 2020. Ours is more than just a guiding principle, we follow a structured plan of real measurable actions reflected in every aspect throughout the event. Thanks to RINA’s careful audit work and the collaboration with the company Ambiente e Salute, we were able to turn an ambitious goal into a reality. Last but not least, I would like to thank Maurizio Grosso, head of the Genoa Boat Show’s Technical and Sustainability Area, and all those who have supported him”.
