ITALIAN EXHIBITORS WERE PLEASED WITH THE AMOUNT OF BUSINESS AND THE SUPPORT FROM THE COUNTRY’S INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION

Thursday 15th November, marked the final day for the 31st edition of the METSTRADE Show – or Marine Equipment Trade Show, the most important international event for operators in the leisure boating equipment industry, which this year hosted 1,600 exhibitors from 50 countries worldwide and 237 new companies, confirming the show’s key role in business development.

76 businesses took part in the Italian delegation coordinated by UCINA, the Italian Marine Industry Association, alongside the Italian Trade Agency, a delegation which was given the opportunity to showcase their products throughout a display area of over 1,600 square metres divided between the Italian Pavilion and the Superyacht Pavilion, organised with the support of the Italian Ministry for Economic Development.

Overall, Italian exhibitors proved to have enjoyed a positive experience, particularly with regards to the show’s outcome and the support received from the Italian industry association and the Italian Trade Agency in promoting the Made in Italy brand overseas.

“Taking part in Amsterdam’s METSTRADE Show is an important step in the plan for exporting and sustaining the Italian boating industry, as promoted by UCINA and with thanks to the support of the Ministry for Economic Development and the Italian Trade Agency, consisting of an articulated support programme for companies and the promotion of the Genoa International Boat Show, the Mediterranean’s largest showcase for the industry” – stated UCINA Director General, Marina Stella. “The Made in Italy Plan will see a series of networking and invitational initiatives of essential strategic importance for those of our companies who export the quality, excellence and innovation our country is famous for across the globe”.

“The positive figures seen during the METSTRADE Show for companies from Italy’s boating industry confirm that the promotional strategies and interventions shared with UCINA and realised by the Italian Trade Agency in world-leading markets, along with their diversified type-specific initiatives, are headed in the right direction” – commented Ferdinando Pastore, Manager of the Industrial Technology, Energy and Environment Department at the Italian Trade Agency for the promotion overseas and internationalisation of Italian businesses.

Silvia Miglioranza, FITT: “This is our first time exhibiting at the METSTRADE Show. We are very happy and will definitely be coming back since this year we will be coming away with excellent contacts. Being positioned inside the Italian Pavilion has been brilliant and has allowed us to benefit from greater visibility and offer an even better image for our new products”.

Michele Fabio Bellini, ITALVIPLA: “We are immensely satisfied with the work done by UCINA in organising the Italian delegation. Having a presence in the Italian Pavilion is important because it speaks for the quality of Made in Italy products which are sought after and appreciated worldwide”.

Maurizio Birondi, BESENZONI: “Once again we are happy with the number of high-quality contacts. This show, dedicated to components and accessories, is in a state of constant growth” – stated Birondi – “Putting together such a vast Italian Pavilion gives the space an added value offering visitors the chance to admire the quality of products Made in Italy”

Elio Tamanti, AMPERAUTO: “This is the second time we have entered this market and we definitely can say we are happy with the many contacts we gained for our products. The Italian delegation organised by UCINA is definitely an added value”.

Daniele Banfi, WAMBLEE: “We are very pleased with the contacts we have made and consolidated with countries such as South Africa and Poland. Compared to previous years, we found ourselves working a lot during the first day as well, which is proof of the increase in interest towards Italian products”.

During the METSTRADE Show, UCINA took part in meetings involving the many ICOMIA Working Groups –  ICOMIA being the International Council of Marine Industry Associations – in order to compare notes with those representing the other 36 member associations.

This is due to the fact that the Italian industry association plays a central role within ICOMIA with Andrea Razeto, Vice President of UCINA and current President of ICOMIA, and Stefano Pagani Isnardi – Manager of UCINA’s Market Research Department – acting as Chairman of the Superyacht Division and Vice Chairman of the Technical Committee and newly formed Market Intelligence Team.

The joint initiatives planned by the Italian Trade Agency and UCINA will continue into 2019 with BOOT in Düsseldorf (19th – 27th January 2019) where the Association will be taking part with an institutional booth, which will act as a reference point for the association members and Italian companies, but also for all the Italian and international press and operators who will be visiting the German show.
