THE 64th GENOA INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW KICKS OFF TOMORROW 19 SEPTEMBER, IN THE PRESENCE OF THE SECOND HIGHEST OFFICE OF ITALY, PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE IGNAZIO LA RUSSO, AND ITALIAN DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER AND MINISTER FOR INFRASTRUCTURES AND TRANSPORT, MATTEO SALVINI

“SEA POLICY: CHARTING NEW COURSES FOR ITALY’S COMPETITIVENESS, AN OUTLOOK FOR THE YACHTING INDUSTRY” WILL BE THE FOCUS OF THE INAUGURAL CONFERENCE, FEATURING AN OPENING ADDRESS BY ITALIAN BUSINESS MINISTER ADOLFO URSO

AT 2.30 PM THE “BOATING ECONOMIC FORUM” WILL FOLLOW, DURING WHICH THE ITALIAN MARINE INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION’S MARKET INTELLIGENCE AND RESEARCH DEPARTMENT AND THE EDISON FOUNDATION WILL PRESENT THE YACHTING INDUSTRY’S MARKET TRENDS AND DATA.

From 19th to 24th September 2024, the international yachting industry will take centre stage at the Genoa International Boat Show.

The President of the Italian Senate, Ignazio La Russa, will attend the traditional flag-hoisting ceremony at the scenic Terrace of the Blue Pavilion.

At 11.30 am the Inaugural Conference focused on “Sea policy: charting new courses for italy’s competitiveness, an outlook for the yachting industry”, chaired by Italian Deputy Prime Minister, Matteo Salvini, and organised by the Italian Marine Industry Association.

After opening speeches by Marco Bucci, Mayor of Genoa, Admiral Nicola Carlone, General Commander of the Italian Harbour Offices, Admiral Sq. Giuseppe Berutti Bergotto, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Italian Navy, Alessandro Piana, Acting President of the Liguria Region, and Saverio Cecchi, President of the Italian Marine Industry Association, the debate itself will be introduced by Andrea Razeto, President of I Saloni Nautici, Piero Formenti, CEO of Zar Formenti, Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group, and Massimo Perotti, President and CEO of Sanlorenzo Yacht.

Moderated by Antonio Macaluso, Corriere della Sera columnist, Mario Zanetti, the Confederation of Italian Industry’s Presidential Delegate for the Marine Economy, Matteo Zoppas, President of the Italian Trade Agency, Adolfo Urso, Italian Minister for Business and Made in Italy Production via a video message, and Minister Matteo Salvini will take part in the debate.

During the Genoa Boat Show’s opening ceremony, celebrations will also be dedicated to Olympic champions of the Guardia di Finanza Marta Maggetti, gold medallist in the iQFOiL class, and Francesco Bocciardo, gold medallist in the 200 metres freestyle S5 category, two Italian sports stars who shone in Paris 2024.

Forum24: the Genoa International Boat Show programme of conferences and workshops

Remaining in the Blue Pavilion, the brimming programme of institutional events and workshops under the Forum24 banner, sponsored by the European Commission, will kick off in the afternoon. The first of the events, at 2.30 pm, in the Forum Hall, will be the “Boating Economic Forecast“, the presentation dedicated to illustrating the latest market data and trends of the yachting industry, collected in the latest edition of the publication Nautica in CifreLOG, a statistical yearbook produced by the Italian Marine Industry Association’s Market Intelligence and Research Department in cooperation with the Edison Foundation, under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport. The analysis provides companies, operators and institutions with the official and up-to-date economic overview of the current state of the yachting industry. The statistical report will be presented by Stefano Pagani Isnardi, Head of the Italian Marine Industry Association’s Market Intelligence and Research Department, and Prof. Marco Fortis, Vice President and Director of the Edison Foundation – Cattolica University.

The Forum Hall will then, at 3.45 pm, become the stage for the conference “Yachting, Tax and Customs”, the traditional event dedicated to taking stock of fiscal, customs-related and sector-specific regulations, organised by the Italian Marine Industry Association. Speakers will include Maurizio Balducci, Vice-President of the Italian Marine Industry Association, Claudio Oliviero, Director of the Customs & Monopolies Agency’s Customs Directorate Office, Sara Armella, of Armella & Associati, Ezio Vannucci, of Moores Rowland Partners, and Carolina Villa, Vice-President of Assagenti. The meeting will be moderated by Roberto Neglia, Head of Institutional Relations at the Italian Marine Industry Association.

Events Programme – Day 1

The events programme for the Eberhard & Co. Theatre will open with an event dedicated to the America’s Cup at 2.00 pm. This will be followed, at 3.00 pm, by the Press Conference of the Italian Harbour Offices – Coast Guard Corps entitled: “E… state in sicurezza: i numeri del 2024” (What it means to be safe: numbers for 2024), during which data on the activities carried out during the summer season by the Italian Coast Guard will be presented.

Day 1 of 64th Genoa International Boat Show will end at 7.00 pm with the new format “Bitta64”, a series of cultural events hosted by the VIP Lounge in the Blue Pavilion. The event will be opened by Giovanni Grasso, journalist, writer and TV and theatre author, and since 2015 Press and Communication Advisor to the Italian Head of State, the President of the Republic, who will present his fourth novel “L’amore non lo vede nessuno” (No one sees love) published by Rizzoli.
