TOMORROW 16th SEPTEMBER MARKS THE BEGINNING OF THE 61st GENOA INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW: AN EVER-SHINING BEACON FOR THE YACHTING WORLD AND BEYOND

THIS YEAR WILL SEE A BOOM IN EXHIBITORS AND INCOME

THE INAUGURATION WILL BE AT 10.30 AM WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF GOVERNMENT MINISTER ENRICO GIOVANNINI AND PRESIDENT OF THE GENERAL CONFEDERATION OF ITALIAN INDUSTRY CARLO BONOMI, FOLLOWED BY AN INAUGURAL CONFERENCE ENTITLED “MADE IN ITALY, A COUNTRY DRIVING ITSELF FORWARD”

The traditional flag-raising ceremony, scheduled to take place at 10.30 am on the Blue Pavilion Terrace, will be enriched by the tribute by “Nave Rizzo”, a FREMM unit of the Italian Navy recently involved in an anti-piracy mission, which will sail by during the ceremony along the Boat Show’s waterfront.

The opening ceremony will be followed by a conference entitled “Made in Italy, a country driving itself forward” which will see leading names in the boating, fashion and design industry, aimed at delving into the opportunities that lie at the heart of this year’s recover plan, looking at the sectors that represent the beauty and high quality of the industry as a whole, and into the structural reforms that will accompany the recovery from redeveloping the Genoa waterfront to planned infrastructure developments contained in the National Recovery Plan.

After the opening statements from Carlo Bonomi, President of the General Confederation of Italian Industry, Enrico Giovannini, Italian Minister for Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility, will take the stage along with Saverio Cecchi, President of the Italian Marine Industry Association – Confindustria Nautica – and I Saloni Nautici, Giovanni Toti, President of the Liguria Regional Government, Carlotta de Bevilacqua, President and CEO of Artemide, Renzo Rosso, President of the OTB group (Diesel), and Carlo Maria Ferro, President of the Italian Trade Agency. The journalist Maria Latella will be moderating.

A boom in exhibitors this year. A growing demand for more space determined the need to broaden and redesign the entire layout of the Sailing, Motoryacht and Maxi Rib sectors; everything is sold-out, even the Equipment and Components Pavilion. The local territory will see an influx of 65 million euros.

At  3.00 pm, in the Forum Hall of the Blue Pavilion, the 4th edition of the BOATING ECONOMIC FORECAST will take place, with the presence of Saverio CecchiStefano Pagani Isnardi, Director of the Italian Marine Industry’s Market Analysis Department, Marco Fortis, Vice President of the Edison Foundation – Lecturer of Industrial Economics and Foreign Commerce at Cattolica University. The roundtable will have the following guest speakers: Carlo Maria Ferro, Barbara Beltrame Giacomello, Vice President of the Italian Marine Industry Association for Internationalisation, Mauro Alfonso, CEO of SIMEST, Carlo Mescieri, President of the Italian Leasing Association ASSILEA, and Alessandro Mazzoni, Senior Broker & Business Developer at Equinoxe International.

During the conference, the latest edition of the book Nautica in Cifre (Boating in Figures) will be presented, the annual statistical report put together by the Italian Marine Industry Association’s Market Analysis Department in partnership with the Edison Foundation, which can boast the patronage of the Italian Ministry for Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility. The report, now reaching its 42nd edition, provides companies, institutions and industry professionals with sector-specific data and analyses that are of fundamental importance when it comes to understanding the economic framework of the Italian leisure boating industry.

Next up in the Forum Hall at 4:45 pm will be the Conference Leisure Boating, the Italian Flag becomes more Competitive– From the Nautical Code reform to that of the implementation regulations for the recent industry-focused decrees, all the simplifications aimed at making the Italian flag more competitive on the global stage”, organised by the Italian Marine Industry Association with the General Director of Maritime Transport, Teresa Di Matteo, Commander of the Local Port Authority, Nicola Carlone, and Vice President of the Italian Marine Industry Association, Maurizio Balducci.

On the same day, the events scheduled to take place on the stage of the Breitling Theatre will begin, starting with, at 2:30 pm, the Local Port Authority – Coast Guard Press Conference, followed by that of the Guardia di Finanza.

The inaugural day of the Genoa International Boat Show will also see the beginning of the RoundItaly Genova-Trieste regatta,the Mediterranean’s longest non-stop race, 1.130 miles long, organised by the Italian Yacht Club, the Barcola e Grignano Sailing Club, the  Barcolana and the Italian Marine Industry Association – Confindustria Nautica – with the involvement of the Italian Sailing Federation – which will connect the two cities and key fairs, the 61st edition of the Genoa International Boat Show and the 53rd edition of the Barcolana, two leading events that have cooperated for years to uphold the culture and protection of the sea.
