The “Mediterraneo Pulito” Raid with Suzuki #lavalacqua to clean up the Med

10 July 2023

The “Mediterraneo Pulito” (“Clean Mediterranean”) Raid organised by Milan’s Club del Gommone and carried out aboard Green, the RIB Master 630 provided by Master Gommoni and powered by a Suzuki DF140B outboard, has come to an end after 2,577 miles from Genoa to Venice.

The Raid put the Suzuki DF140B fitted with the #lavalacqua system based on the Suzuki Micro Plastic Collector, a device that filters the engine cooling water by retaining the microplastics dissolved in the sea.

Throughout the voyage, the Suzuki DF140B filtered seawater and captured plastic debris, enabling the crews to carry out widespread sampling of the Italian coastline.

The results of the analyses carried out at the University of Macerata will be announced on Sunday 24th September at the 63rd Genoa International Boat Show during the relative press conference dedicated to the Raids in which Suzuki acted as partner.

The “Mediterraneo Pulito Raid was made possible, as Vittorio Gandini, President of the Club del Gommone, pointed out, by the support of Suzuki and Master Gommoni, the Federazione Italiana Motonautica (Italy’s Motorboat Federation), Simrad for the on-board instrumentation and VHF, the magazine Il Gommone, Mokinba Hotel Milano, Milan’s Nautical Centre, and ASN 2 with its anti-theft tracker.
