THE GENOA INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW LANDS IN NEWPORT

29 May 2023

“Newport RI hosted the Italian Yachting Industry, an event dedicated to the 2023 Genoa International Boat Show”

New York – On 25th May, in the exceptional venue that is the prestigious NYYC Harbour Court, Newport RI, the third presentation in the US of the 2023 Genoa International Boat Show was held.

This was the third occasion dedicated to showcasing the Genoa International Boat Show’s global brand and reputation, as the event continues to prepare over the course of these busy months for its 63rd edition (scheduled to take place from 21st to 26th September 2023).

The United States remain in their stable role as first destination market for the Italian yachting industry worldwide: in 2022, the year of the latest Made in Italy sales record, there was a 30% increase registered on the previous year (for a value of USD 575 million).

This is because the Italian yachting industry is the heart and soul of the world-renowned Made in Italy brand, with cutting-edge yachts & boats that feature the highest standards of technology, design, materials, along with those of performance, innovation, style and creativity. To confirm the industry’s market leadership, the many Italian companies at the forefront of the industry will be present at the 63rd Genoa International Boat Show, a major international event with over 1,000 boats on display.

The presentation, which was held at the prestigious venue in Newport RI, further consolidated the objectives of the communication campaign to showcase Italian yachting excellence across the US, organised in partnership with the Italian Trade Agency. The event was a unique opportunity to provide the world with a preview of the next upcoming edition of the Genoa International Boat Show, ready to welcome the most important innovations from throughout the sector in an exhibition layout where design meets sustainability, thanks to the realisation of the new Eastern Waterfront, a spectacular project designed by architect Renzo Piano – Stefano Pagani Isnardi, Head of the Italian Marine Industry Association’s Research and Project Development Department.

We have fully included Newport in the Italy on Madison programme as the Genoa International Boat Show is an exceptional example of Made in Italy excellence, a title it has earned for a number of reasons: on the one hand, it is a growing and architecturally revamped exhibition thanks to the completion of Renzo Piano’s stunning project, which contributes significantly to the continuity of the success gained in the 2022 edition in terms of visitors and exhibitors; on the other hand, yachting is the crown jewel of our national production. This is because design goes hand in hand with technology, materials with innovation, and positive trends with sustainability.  – Antonino Laspina, Senior Trade Commissioner at the Italian Trade Agency in New York and coordinator of the US network.

This is the third event over the course of a year, and after New York and Ft Lauderdale we could only land in Newport, the most important American city for yachting on a global scale. We have just concluded our leg of the Ocean Race (which this year will cross the finishing line in Genoa), and we have just recorded a new sales record in the US (575M, + 30% on the previous record year of 2021). This is truly an excellent presentation of the 63rd Genoa International Boat Show in 2023Carlo Angelo Bocchi, Trade Commissioner of the Italian Trade Agency Office in Miami.

“Made in Italy values have proven their exceptional positioning within the US market over the years, a fact that is aptly represented by the yachting projects we have discussed today,” commentedPaolo Trevisan, Vice President of Design at Pininfarina of America. “At Pininfarina, we are proud to represent Italian Design in such an important market, where we also have the opportunity to learn and hone our skills.”
