This 13th November will mark the inauguration of Amsterdam’s METSTRADE Show, the number one international trade show for operators working in the components and accessories sector for leisure boating, which will come to a close on the following 15th November.

UCINA, the Italian Marine Industry Association, will be representing Italy with a delegation of 70 companies, coordinated in partnership with the Italian Trade Agency, to showcase Italy’s international excellence in marine equipment at the Amsterdam trade show.

“Italy’s leisure boating industry is the most represented and most qualified at the METSTRADE Show in Amsterdam – commented Andrea Razeto, President of ICOMIA (the International Council of Marine Industry Associations) and Vice President of UCINA, who this year will be inaugurating the traditional Breakfast Briefing – It will be an honour and a privilege to open the METSTRADE Show as President of ICOMIA. Once again after many years, we have an Italian Presidency, confirming the importance of Italy’s leisure boating industry and that of UCINA worldwide. ICOMIA is a partner of RAI Amsterdam and as such, during the Breakfast Briefing, will help identify the key issues and the personalities whose interventions contribute every year to defining the sector’s economic and technical trends. This year, Hervé Gastinel, Chief Executive Officer of the Beneteau Group, will be presenting the Breakfast Briefing”.

UCINA plays a direct role within ICOMIA, including with regards to the many technical meetings that take place therein.

“UCINA’s participation in the Working Group meetings is of absolute strategic importance when it comes to comparing notes with the other 36 ICOMIA Associations – explains Stefano Pagani Isnardi, Manager of the UCINA Market Research Department – As Chairman of the Superyacht Division and Vice Chairman of the Technical Committee and of the new Market Intelligence Team, I am privileged with a broader view of recent dossiers for the international boating industry, since I also have to select the most urgent issues to look into during these meetings. In the mentioned committees, this year’s discussions will focus on the evolution of NOx regulations for units over 24 metres which saw the involvement of a number of Europe’s leading shipyards – including Monte Carlo Yachts, Sanlorenzo and Overmarine – in a research group aimed at providing the IMO with technical solutions that are compatible with technological development”.

UCINA will also be involved in the Grow Boating Committee – a forum that examines the current campaigns for growth in leisure boat numbers worldwide –, in the Environment Committee, the IFBSO/ICOMIA Boat Shows Working Group and the ICOMIA Combined Meeting.

The leading role played by Italy’s leisure boating industry is also confirmed by the number of Made in Italy products among the nominees for the DAME Design Award, the prestigious acknowledgement for best design product, scheduled to be awarded during the Breakfast Briefing.

Made in Italy products make up a large portion of nominees: BWS motorised furling unit for bowsprit by Bamar, for the Deck equipment, sails and rigging category; Netto by Palagi Marine Lights S.r.l., for the Interior equipment, furnishings, materials and electrical fittings used in cabins category; MC2 X 7k by Quick S.p.A., Watermaker Zen by Schenker Italia S.r.l. and CARBON FIBER MR.SLIM24i by Termodinamica Ltd, for the Machinery, propulsion, mechanical and electrical systems and fittings category; FLYING CARPET by Termomeccanica Eolo, for the Deck equipment, sails and rigging category; SPIDER SHOES TOTAL GRIP and SPIDER SHOES 4D by U-SAIL for the Clothing and crew accessories category; Electronic Switch 8in 7out 3M by Vimar S.p.A. and DRW180A by Vitrifrigo S.r.l., for the Interior equipment, furnishings, materials and electrical fittings used in cabins category.
