10 August 2022

The Performa 55.3 is one of the brand new designs that Harken will be presenting at the 62nd Genoa International Boat Show. A winch expressly designed for ocean sailors, the new Performa 55.3 was born to respond to the needs expressed by world sailors, including those of the Class 40.

First and foremost Ambrogio Beccaria, ambassador of Harken Italy, along with Olympic gold medalists Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti and the emerging young sailors of the 470 Mixed class, Marco Gradoni and Alessandra Dubbini. Ambrogio Beccaria will have the Performa 55.3 on his Class 40 Allagrande, a design by Gianluca Guelfi that flies the flag of the Italian Yacht Club.

With the drum in sandblasted aluminium to have an optimal grip even with the latest generation lines and with a small diameter, the Performa 55.3 is designed to handle high loads even with few loads on the drum.

In addition, roller bearings and composite bushings reduce friction under load, offering excellent resistance to corrosion. Finally, the pins and gears are made of high-strength 17-4PH stainless steel. The Performa 55.3 has an MXW (Maximum Working Load) of 1,500 kg and a weight of only 6.7 kg.
