CECCHI: ‘THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES REPRESENT ONE OF THE MOST DYNAMIC EXPORT DESTINATIONS FOR THE BEST OF ITALIAN YACHTING’

As part of the International Promotion Plan of Made in Italy manufacturing and of the 64th Genoa International Boat Show (19th – 24th September 2024) supported by the Italian Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and made possible by the Italian Trade Agency, the Italian Marine Industry Association will be taking part in the Dubai International Boat Show (28th February – 3rd March 2024) with a collective of Italian companies.

Now in its 30th edition, the Dubai International Boat Show is the most significant international boat show in the Middle East and plays an important role in the promotion of Italian yachting throughout the Gulf region, while also being an ideal opportunity to promote the 64th edition of the Genoa International Boat Show on the global stage.

“The Italian Marine Industry Association has been taking part in the Dubai International Boat Show for 18 years, happily bringing along our collectives of Italian businesses, organised in partnership with the Italian Trade Agency,” stated the President of the Italian Marine Industry Association, Saverio Cecchi. “The United Arab Emirates represent one of the most dynamic export destinations for the Italian yachting industry, which closed 2022 with 88% of national shipbuilding production destined for export”.

In 2022, exports of “recreational and sport boats” from Italy to the United Arab Emirates were worth approximately €30.5 million (source: data from the Edison Foundation, based on ISTAT data processed for the Italian Marine Industry Association’s periodic market analysis publication “Nautica in Cifre LOG – Analisi del mercato per l’anno 2022“), ranking among the top 20 leading destination markets for Italian exports.

The Dubai International Boat Show will also be an opportunity to present the Sindalah Island – Neom project by architect Luca Dini, CEO of Luca Dini Design&Architecture. The event, scheduled for Wednesday 28th February at 7.00 pm at the Italian Marine Industry Association and Trade Agency’s “Confindustria Nautica – ICE Agenzia” stand (N. ESS-30), will be kick off with an opening speech by Valerio Soldani, Director of the Italian Trade Agency – Dubai, and Andrea Razeto, Vice President of the Italian Marine Industry Association.

“The Sindalah Island project, which together with project Neom is part of the broader Saudi Vision 2030 plan, clearly represents an opportunity for the nautical industry as a whole, as well as an admirable example of cutting-edge design, seeing the use of sustainable and environmentally friendly materials and solutions,” commented Andrea Razeto. “The United Arab Emirates represent a reference market for the entire Gulf region, a region that stands out for its dynamic nature and significant purchasing power”.

The following day, Thursday 29th February, will see the presentation to the visitors and exhibitors of the Dubai International Boat Show of the ICOMIA 2025 World Marinas Conference, which the international council of marine industry associations will hold in Venice from 15th to 17th October 2025 at the Venezia Certosa Marina, owned by Vento di Venezia Srl, a member company of the Italian Marinas Association and Italian Marine Industry Association.

The joint activities of the Italian Trade Agency and of the Italian Marine Industry Association for the 2024 plan for the internationalisation of businesses will continue with their participation in CLIA Cruise Week Europe in Genoa from 11th to 14th March, NYCxDESIGN scheduled from 16th to 23rd May in New York, SMM Hamburg from 3rd to 6th September, the IBEX Show in Tampa from 1st to 3rd October, the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show from 30th October to 3rd November), and METSTRADE in Amsterdam from 19th  to 21st November this year.
