Nautor Swan and America’s Cup challengers American Magic chose the Boot trade show in Düsseldorf as the stage on which to announce the birth of a new partnership between the world-famous Finnish yard and challengers at the two most recent editions of the America’s Cup. The collaboration aims to support sailing and develop the sailing industry in the United States.
“I am particularly pleased with the agreement reached with American Magic, a team brimming with talent on every front. We were in search of a partner that shared our vision and values. Our challenge is to breathe new air into US sailing, both in terms of trade and technology,” stated Giovanni Pomati, CEO of Nautor Swan.
For his part, Terry Hutchinson, President of Sailing Operations and skipper of American Magic emphasized how, “this joint venture marks an important step in American Magic’s mission to lead sailing in the United States into a new era of innovation and competition.”
The joint venture will initially focus on developing regattas dedicated to the ClubSwan 28 class, with a series of events on the East Coast of the United States, starting with Pensacola, Florida. The agreement will also explore a number of other activities, such as building Nautor Swan and Bluegame boats at the American Magic facility.
