The Louis Vuitton Cup will once again be the trophy up for grabs for the Challenger who will battle it out against Emirates Team New Zealand at the next America’s Cup, its 37th edition, scheduled for next year in Barcelona.
The French maison thus returns to the greatest event in sailing which had seen its first contact with the 1983 edition of the America’s Cup when the challenger selection races were held for the first time and the Louis Vuitton Cup was put up for grabs.

These values perfectly reflect the spirit of Louis Vuitton and its craftsmen.”
The Louis Vuitton Cup was first awarded to Australia II, who went on to claim the Americas’ Cup against on the New York Yacht Club’s defender Liberty. Italian clubs have twice won the trophy: in 1992 with Raul Gardini’s Moro di Venezia and in 2000 with Patrizio Bertelli’s Luna Rossa Challenge. Other winners were, four times, the New Zealand teams and once both Stars & Stripes ’87 (USA) and Alinghi (SUI).
In addition to putting the Louis Vuitton Cup up for grabs again, Louis Vuitton will also produce in its historic atelier in Asnières-sur-Seine, a few kilometres from Paris, the special trunks for the Auld Mug, the silver trophy that is given to the winner of the America’s Cup since 1851, and for the Louis Vuitton Cup.
