During the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the Italian fund FARO, through the Real Economy division of FARO Alternative Investments supported by the advisory company Orienta Capital Partners, announced the acquisition of Sunseeker International (Holdings) Ltd.
Sunseeker, a British shipyard founded in 1969 by brothers Robert and John Braithwaite and which became Sunseeker International in 1985, is based in Poole, Dorset, and since 2013 has had China’s Wanda Group as its majority shareholder.
In FY2023, Sunseeker generated around £320m in aggregate sales, mainly from yachts in the 15-50m range. The current order book is worth around £540m (approximately €640m).
“We are excited to embark on this new chapter alongside Sunseeker. Our consolidated experience in the nautical sector, combined with our long-standing relationship with the CEO, will allow us to further enhance the identity and craftsmanship of the shipyard, guiding the brand towards our ambitious growth targets,” stated Giancarlo Galeone, chairman of FARO Value, lead advisor of FARO Alternative Investments SCSp SICAV RAIF.
“We are confident that thanks to this new ownership structure Sunseeker will be able to grow and achieve new goals,” commented Andrea Frabetti, CEO of Sunseeker since 2019. “Our goal will continue to be to build exceptional yachts that embody luxury, performance and innovation, while honouring the legacy and vision of our founders.”
