erretti Group, under the guidance of CEO Alberto Galassi, and Cav. Massimo Perotti, Former President of the Italian Marine Industry Association and executive chairman of Sanlorenzo, have announced the formation of a NewCo representing a Joint Venture aimed at saving Perini Navi, declared bankrupt by the Lucca Court on 29th January.
By means of the recently created NewCo, Ferretti Group and Sanlorenzo have expressed interest in making an offer that would see the new entity acquire all brands, assets and Italy-based activities under the name Perini Navi, including via a company division lease where necessary, in order to guarantee a faster, leaner recovery and save jobs.
“Today marks a key moment, not just for the Italian boating sector but for all Perini Navi employees and their families” commented Alberto Galassi. “For a unique legacy of passion, experience and skills which, as of today, will continue to be protected. As will all of Perini Navi’s satellite activities. Ferretti Group is always looking out for the best skills to integrate with our own: often, just like today, such excellence can be found in Italy. I also want to emphasise the historical importance of our alliance with Sanlorenzo, in line with the spirit of collaboration currently inspiring our country as a whole”.
“My own professional career within the world of boating started out in Viareggio in the same place and in the same year in which Perini Navi was born”, stated Cav. Massimo Perotti. “This was in 1983 and I remember always admiring this magnificent brand’s unique business model: boats of exceptional quality, rigourously tailored to an exclusive crowd of yachting experts. Similar characteristics to those that I found when at Sanlorenzo. It is because of these similarities that I was clear from the very start about Sanlorenzo’s intention to take part in relaunching the company. And today it is with great pleasure that I can do so alongside the Ferretti Group. Ours is a historic alliance for our industry, an alliance that I am convinced will inspire other initiatives aimed at strengthening our country’s global leadership in the world of boating”.
