Bertram Yachts was established in 1960, when Dick Bertram – a yacht broker, an offshore sailor and a powerboats racer – built the first Bertram yacht, the 31’ Moppie. Conceived to replicate the DEEP-V hull that had smashed all records at the Miami–Nassau motorboat Ocean Race in 1960, the Bertram 31 was the first in a line of sport fishing boats up to 80’ in length, which would soon be widely recognized for its excellent cruising and sea-keeping features in rough-sea conditions. The company and its legend grew steadily thanks to many worthy models, including the Bertram 28, the 46 and the 54, which left their mark in the world of fishing. In 2015 Bertram was purchased by the Group led by Beniamino Gavio.
