64th Genoa International Boat Show – What’s New: Cantieri Magazzù unveils its new flagship 55′ Walkaround

19 August 2024

There are two versions of their latest product scheduled to be showcased by Cantieri Magazzù at the 64th Genoa International Boat Show. Both will represent the unveiling of the Shipyard’s new flagship, the 55-foot maxi rib Walkaround, measuring 16.7 metres in length by 4.65 metres wide, featuring a double redan hull offered in the M-16 version, powered by Volvo IPS, and the MX-16 with 3 Mercury 600 hp outboards.

A truly distinctive aspect of the new 55′ is the special D-shape construction system with an anti-shock system and high-performance closed-cell foam core in cross-linked PE with an EVA density of 45-100 kg/m³. In addition, the rising sections are reinforced with higher-density foam while the whole yacht itself features a 4-mm F155 polyurethane-reinforced outer shell, which in turn is covered with a layer of Orca® 866 1670 dtex Hypalon Neoprene fabric. A refined construction that offers increased safety and stability, eliminates the risk of punctures and improves sailing comfort.

The MX-16 version is powered by three 600hp Mercury engines for a total of 1,800hp that allow the model to reach a top speed of 50 knots. The MX-16 can also have the outboards incorporated in the stern sundeck; a solution that allows for a larger sundeck without sacrificing a large stern platform. It also increases safety by sheltering bathers from outboard propellers.

The outboard version of Cantieri Magazzù is flanked, for those who prefer inboard motorisation, by the M-16 version that mounts a Volvo Penta IPS 800 engine set-up.

Cantieri Magazzù’s new flagship combines large exterior spaces inspired by the highest standards of comfort and practicality with an extremely versatile below deck layout with two double cabins, a convertible dinette and two bathrooms. A layout that makes a boat perfect for both short excursions and long cruises. The MX outboard version allows for the possibility of a third sailor aft.
