63rd Genoa International Boat Show news – The Velja 43 by Mediter Yachts is the new face of cruising

29 August 2023

To change the face of cruising by sail. This is the goal of Mediter Yachts, a yard based in Lucca that will be making its debut at the 63rd Genoa International Boat Show with their Velja 43 (13.17 metres long by 4.11), designed by the Matteo Costa architecture studio in Milan.

The Velja 43, designed to provide maximum space, presents a concept that is somewhat similar to that of a motor yacht, and is easily manned by one person thanks to its unique deck layout.

The cockpit, inspired by the concept of conviviality, provides two aft seats with a central table that can be transformed into a sundeck overlooking the aft deck and the bathing platform. In the centre of the cockpit is a fully equipped galley and central wheelhouse.

And it is to the wheelhouse, under a bimini with a carbon hard top equipped with three solar panels to produce electricity for the on-board systems, that all sail manoeuvres return: mainsail 48 square metres, self-tacking jib 25 square metres and Code Zero 75 square metres.

The interiors of the Velja 43 are organised with a living room furnished with a table and dinette that can be converted into sleeping quarters, a forward master cabin with bathroom, and two aft cabins served by a bathroom. Adding to this is a chart table, which conceals a small sink and a cooker for when it is not possible to do so outside.
