Closing statements.
Saverio Cecchi, President of the Italian Marine Industry Association: “«New» is the adjective that best describes the 2021 edition of the Genoa International Boat Show. A new, great success after 2020, the only industry event in Europe to take place in person that year. The new Superyacht era, the new Sailing Quay, the new piers for RIBs, the new VIP Lounge, the new helicopter route, new prestigious partners, and a new era of growth for the industry as a whole. Let’s look at the numbers, what we have all been waiting for: as of 12:00 pm today, the total number of visitors to the 61st Genoa International Boat Show is 92.377, 30% more than the 2020 edition. We have also seen a +12% increase in contracts signed compared to last year. I would like to thank the Institutions involved, the President of the Italian Trade Agency, the Prefect, the Police Commissioner, the Commander of the Genoa Municipal Police Force, the Director of the Local Healthcare Unit, the President of Porto Antico, the President of the Genoa Chamber of Commerce, the President of Confindustria Genova, and the President of the Yacht Club Italiano, all of whom have contributed so much to making this event such a success.”
The 61st Genoa International Boat Show was able to count on the key support of many Institutions, from the Italian Trade Agency, which allowed for the participation of over 60 international journalists and buyers from 18 countries with an invitational press and B2B project inserted into the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s Plan for the Promotion of the Made in Italy brand, to Simest, which allowed companies to make use of financing tools for taking part in international industry events. This year also saw a record number of state visits from members of the Government and Parliament.
The event’s six-day period saw 78 events including conferences, seminars, technical workshops, panels and presentations, and 5,874 sea trials.
In terms of communications, 947 journalists were accredited for the event, 1,827 articles were published between 1st and 20th September, of which 536 in newspapers, and 9.5 hours of TV reports dedicated to the Boat Show. Record numbers for the Genoa Boat Show’s official streaming platform, Salone Nautico TV, which, available at https://sntv.salonenautico.com/ and on the official Sole 24 Ore website (http://bit.ly/60°_SaloneNautico_sole_24_ore), every day streamed live interviews, conference reports, products and the latest innovations from across the industry, adding up to a total of 128 hours of live streaming, with 2,217,119 impressions. 1.5 million pages viewed on the institutional website of the Genoa International Boat Show, 260,000 users accessing the site between 1st and 19th September, and over 1,250,751 people reached through the official social media platforms.
The Mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci, stated: “The Genoa International Boat Show has been an enormous success, a success that is well represented in the numbers recorded and the great sense of satisfaction I have perceived personally from among those working in the industry. Another reason why this event has been such a success is how well the new Levante Waterfront project has been received, a project aimed to be of service to the entire city and to many other activities to come. An encouraging sign for the future, Genoa wants to be as welcoming as it can, the city is investing as much in the Boat Show as it is in the boating industry as a whole, in the areas close to the sea, our real strong points: the sea has a tremendous impact on our economy, our workers and our culture.”
President of the Liguria Regional Government, Giovanni Toti: “The positive figures could be felt clearly, walking through the Boat Show, as they grew day after day. This is an event that is the result of a system of synergies between so many factors, many commercial but also social, relational. There have been regattas, talks, partnerships, this has been the full definition of an International Boat Show, experienced and engaging, almost a rite of passage towards the full recovery of our local territories and country. We now need to work hard in order to develop what we have sowed so far.”
