TOMORROW WILL MARK THE FIRST DAY OF THE 59TH EDITION OF THE GENOA INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW SCHEDULED TO TAKE PLACE FROM 19TH TO 24TH SEPTEMBER
THE OPENING CEREMONY WILL BEGIN AT 10.30 AM IN THE PRESENCE GOVERNMENT MINISTER PAOLA DE MICHELI, TO BE FOLLOWED BY AN INAUGURAL CONFERENCE ON “THE CAPITALS OF YACHTING”
AT 3.30 PM THE “BOATING ECONOMIC FORUM” WILL TAKE PLACE TO PRESENT THE LATEST MARKET DATA CONTAINED IN THE “NAUTICA IN CIFRE” PUBLICATION
Tomorrow, Thursday 19th September, will see the inauguration of the 59th Genoa International Boat Show, taking place from 19th to 24th September.
At 10.00 am representatives of the various relevant authorities will be greeted by the President of UCINA (the Italian Marine Industry Association), Saverio Cecchi, and by the President of the organising company I Saloni Nautici Carla Demaria, who will all be present for the traditional flag raising ceremony, scheduled to take place at 10.30 am on the Blue Pavilion’s Terrace.
This will be followed by an Inaugural Conference at 11.00 am concerning “The Capitals of Yachting: values, territories and records”. Speakers will include Paola De Micheli, Italian Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Carlo Maria Ferro, President of the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), Giovanni Toti,President of the Liguria Region, Marco Bucci, Mayor of Genoa, Massimo Fedriga, President of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region, Ermete Realacci, President of the Symbola Foundation, Saverio Cecchi, President of UCINA (Italy’s Marine Industry Association) and Carla Demaria, President of the organising company I Saloni Nautici. Moderating the conference will be Antonio Macaluso, editorialist from the Corriere della Sera.
During the opening ceremony the frigate Alpino (F594) belonging to the Italian Navy will make her entry into the Genoa port as a tribute to the 59th edition of the Genoa International Boat Show. She will salute the flag raising ceremony from the sea.
Built by the shipyard Fincantieri in Riva Trigoso (GE), launched on 13th December 2012 and delivered to the Italian Navy on 30th September 2016, Nave Alpino is the fifth FREMM (European Multi-Mission Frigates) from the Bergamini class of MM. 144 metres long and with a displacement of 6700 t, she can carry up to 168 people at a top speed of 27 knots. Nave Alpino (F594) is the fourth Unit of the Italian Navy to carry this name, in honour of one of the historical sections of the Italian Army, demonstrating the bond between sailors, alpini and the concept of law enforcement cooperation.
At 3.30 pm, at the ForumUCINA hall, visitors will be able to hear the “Boating Economic Forecast”, a presentation for the latest edition of La Nautica in Cifre with the participation of Marco Fortis, Edison Foundation – Cattolica University, Enrico Duranti, President of Assilea – Italy’s Leasing Association, Giorgio De Rita, Secretary General for Censis, Stefano Pagani Isnardi, Director of UCINA’s Market Analysis Department, Saverio Cecchi, President of UCINA, Mario Mattioli, President of the Italian Sea Federation, Mauro Coletta, Director General for Maritime Transport – Italian Ministry for Infrastructure and Transport.
The publication, put together by UCINA’s Market Analysis Department , in partnership with the Edison Foundation, and officially recognised by the Ministry for Infrastructure and Transport, is a key reference point for professionals across the industry as it provides businesses, institutions and operators with fundamental data and content for analysing in detail the current economic situation of Italy’s recreational boating industry.
The day will then provide a programme brimming with events, ending with the first event taking place outside the Genoa Boat Show, that is, the GenovaInBlu calendar. At 7.00 pm, at the Galata Maritime Museum of Genoa, the final talk of the series “Incontri in Blu. Uomini, donne e storie di mare” will take place, moderated by the journalist Fabio Pozzo, dedicated to men, women and stories of the sea. The evening’s guest will be Norberto Ferretti, a Pioneer of Boating and founder of the Group that bears his name.
