All eyes are on the Spanish region of Catalonia, and not just those of sailing enthusiasts. With its coastline brimming with places of interest, ports, harbours and marinas, the region boasts some of the best-preserved corners of Europe.
And, of course, all eyes are especially on Barcelona right now, where the 37th Louis Vuitton Americas’ Cup kicked off on 29th August with five challengers, including the Italian team Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, each battling it out to claim the America’s Cup, the world’s oldest sporting trophy, and prize it from the tight grip of Cup holder and Defender, Emirates Team New Zealand.
It is with this backdrop that the Catalonia Tourist Board, together with Estacions Nàutiques de Catalunya and Ports de la Generalitat, will be bringing a taste of Catalonia to the visitors and exhibitors of the 64th Genoa International Boat Show, showcasing a plethora of offers concerning this great region overlooking the Mediterranean.
“If you enjoy the sea, you are in the right place,” explained the Catalonia Tourist Board. “Along its almost 600 km, the Catalan coast provides a complete range of infrastructures, including 45 sports ports and six marinas that allow all kinds of nautical activities to be experienced: from sailing to surfing, windsurfing, rowing, water skiing and diving.”
Added to all of this is Barcelona itself, the capital of Catalonia. A historical, modernist, dynamic and fun city, Barcelona is an excellent starting point to get to know the Catalan coast and its many locations where white lime walls and navy blue doors and windows are juxtaposed with the blue and white glow of the sea.
