The Sanlorenzo SP110 wins the Compasso d’Oro alongside Bernardo and Martina Zuccon

1 July 2024

The Sanlorenzo SP110, designed by Bernardo and Martina Zuccon of Zuccon International Project has won the Compasso d’Oro, an award conceived by Gio Ponti in 1954 and promoted by the ADI – Association for Industrial Design. The award was presented on 20th June at the ADI Design Museum in Milan during the 27th Compasso d’Oro award ceremony.

The Compasso d’Oro does not simply reward the most popular or most aesthetically appealing objects, but those that best represent the idea of Made in Italy design, and in its seventy years of history it has awarded just over 370 prizes, a testament to the prestige that the prize is intended to represent in the world.

Launched in 2022, the Sanlorenzo SP110 is a perfect example of what becomes possible when two hallmark names of the yachting world who work under the banner of Made in Italy excellence come together to create something truly unique. A roster of talent that includes Bernardo and Marina Zuccon on the exterior design, Tilli Antonelli on product development, Marco Arnaboldi on the hull and Piero Lissoni on the interiors.

In their words, the multidisciplinary jury of approximately 150 Compasso d’Oro experts awarded the prize to the Sanlorenzo SP110 because the model “interprets the idea of a floating home through new proportions, a new relationship between transparent and blind surfaces, and innovative living solutions. A yacht that redefines the production process within a strategic sector, through careful research into the key aspect of sustainability in both construction and use“.

For the studio,” Bernardo Zuccon commented upon receiving the award, “this recognition represents the most important milestone in this field of design and we are honoured to have received it for such a fascinating and challenging project. The SP110, has demonstrated that research into the territory of what it means to live onboard still has room for innovative interpretations that can offer the market increasingly transversal products.”

Until 15th September 2024, the model of the Sanlorenzo SP110 will be on display at the ADI Design Museum in Milan, which since 2021 has been enhancing and promoting design culture on a national and international level by showcasing its permanent collection and the production of topical exhibitions that focus on contemporary design.
