The Asterix 2024, a Nuova Jolly Prince 24 Exclusive powered by a Suzuki DF300AP outboard from the Milan-based Club del Gommone completed the ‘Olympics 2024’ Raid that saw the boat set out from Varazze and cross the finish line in Paris after 3,158 miles.
The aim of the Raid, which boasted the patronage of the Federazione Italiana Motonautica (Italy’s motorboating federation) and the Italian Marine Industry Association Confindustria Nautica, and the media partnership with national industry magazine Il Gommone, was to create a connection between Milan, home of the next Winter Olympics, and Paris, where the Olympic Games will be kicking off on 11th July.
The Asterix 2024, helmed by a crew of Club del Gommone members had set off on 20th April and ended its journey beneath the shadow of the Eiffel Tower on 5th June after tackling a route that passed the Liguria coastline and that of France, Spain and Portugal, where the timely intervention by Suzuki solved a fuel contamination issue that could have put an end to the entire challenge.
From Portugal, the Asterix 2024 then continued along the northern coasts of Spain and France, reaching the mouth of the Seine and from there Paris. The Raid Olympics 2024 by Milan’s Club del Gommone was made possible thanks to contributions from: Suzuki, Nuova Jolly, Navico Simrad, ASN Electronics, Mokinba Hotel, Sea Best, Osculati Marine, Veleria San Giorgio, Hertel Teli and Rigomma.
