ITALIAN MARINE INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION ATTENDS METSTRADE IN AMSTERDAM (15th – 17th NOVEMBER) WITH A DELEGATION OF ITALIAN COMPANIES ORGANISED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ITALIAN TRADE AGENCY
WORLD-LEADING EQUIPMENT AND COMPONENTS MEET MADE-IN-ITALY EXCELLENCE
Italy, the global market leader in the boating components and accessories sector, will be represented Amsterdam’s METSTRADE, the international boat show scheduled to take place from 15th to 17th November, by a delegation of Italian companies organised by the Italian Marine Industry Association Confindustria Nautica in partnership with the Italian Trade Agency.
The Italian yachting industry will present in Amsterdam, backed by the figures of a sector that have been booming for six years in a row: in 2022, the global turnover of the Italian Yachting industry grew by 20%, exceeding €7 billion. Italy, the world’s leading exporter of boats and yachts, reached an all-time high of €3.74 billion in the sliding year ending June 2023. In 2022 Italian yachting unit exports reached a share of 18.3% of the global figure with 88% of national shipbuilding production going abroad. Italy is the world’s leading producer of boats over 24 metres, inflatable units over 10 metres, and boating equipment.
Italy’s market supremacy is also reflected in its participation at Metstrade where the very best of the Made in Italy brand from the sector is on display, represented by 66 companies brought together by the Italian Marine Industry Association and Italian Trade Agency, spread out between Hall12, with a surface area of 1,454 square metres, and the 132 square metres of the Superyacht Pavilion.
“The equipment and components sector of the Italian yachting industry,” commented Saverio Cecchi, President of the Italian Marine Industry Association, “plays a fundamental role on the world market, standing out with its high standards of quality and technology, something profoundly appreciated worldwide. In 2022, the equipment and components sector recorded a total turnover of approximately €1.87 billion, with a 20.3% increase compared to 2021 for domestic production“.
Italy will also be taking on a leading role in the Breakfast Briefing that traditionally opens the Metstrade on the morning of 15th November. During the Briefing, the main speech with the world leaders of the yachting industry will be given by Massimo Perotti, President and CEO of Sanlorenzo SpA and Former President of the Italian Marine Industry Association. Among other topics, Perotti will discuss the yachting industry’s transition towards carbon neutrality, presenting the sector’s latest and most pressing sustainability challenges.
Topics that will also be tackled at international meetings in which the Italian Marine Industry Association will be taking part, confirming its leading role on a global level within ICOMIA – the International Council of Marine Industry Associations – and EBI – European Boating Industry. In Amsterdam, specifically, the Association will take part in numerous technical meetings and workgroups including the official presentation of a study on Decarbonisation in the yachting sector carried out by Ricardo on behalf of ICOMIA and the EBI Council meeting.
