At Wider’s Superyacht Hub in Marghera, construction continues on the Wider Moonflower 72, designed under the partnership of Wider, helmed by Marcello Maggi – owner of controlling company W-Fin Sarl, which holds 100% of Wider’s capital, and Nauta Design.
Scheduled for delivery in 2025, the Moonflower 72 is the first full-custom project following Wider’s recapitalisation. The model is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure and equipped with a unique engine set-up.
Moonflower 72 is in fact fitted with Wider’s hybrid propulsion system, consisting of two variable speed generators supplied by MAN Energy Solutions of 1,860 kW each, combined with an approximately 1 MW/h sodium nickel battery from FZSoNick.
This system, which allows energy to always be at the lowest consumption point, reduces CO2 emissions by around 20 per cent. In addition, the endothermic engines are set up for HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) and methanol in order to follow the zero-impact journey undertaken by Wider.
